Cannes, France - Day 7

Arriving in Cannes, France was exciting as it was the first time we had ever tendered to shore and it was a brand new country to explore. We had booked a tour through Viator to for a half-day in Eze and Monaco, but we weren't able to get everything confirmed prior to arriving so we decided it was a good time to just take it easy and explore Cannes on our own.

We also found out that the road to Monaco was closed due to the Grand Prix qualifying so the chances of us making it there were pretty slim. We lucked out and had a great time walking along the La Croisette and checking out all the interesting hotels and the conference center where they hold the Cannes Film Festival which we missed by a week.

After walking around a bit we jumped on a petit train that took us all through the city telling us interesting facts about the locations we were passing by. It was packed with a lot of great information, but the driver was insane and the whole time we thought we may never make it out of that train with all our limbs. After we narrowly escaped death we decided to find somewhere to stop and have some lunch. I leveraged Yelp quite a bit during our trip and in Cannes, it came in handy. We found a great French Bistro called Volupté Anytime. There were several reviews and tips about their handcrafted peach tea which led us to check it out.

After lunch, we walked around Rue d'Antibes and Rue Meynadier which are the part of the shopping district in Cannes. It was there we found an amazing French bakery L'Atelier Jean Luc Pelé and had some delicious desserts. After eating we felt it was best to take advantage of the great weather and work off the food we just ate so we walked up to the Musée de la Castre which has some of the best overlooks of the French Rivera in Cannes.

We didn't have much more time so we made our way back to the boat and tendered out to get ready for our dinner plans at Teppanyaki on the ship. This was by far and away the best meal we had while on our cruise. It is a Japanese steakhouse so they come out and cook in front of you. Our chef was hilarious and could somehow relate any song to the food he was preparing which was awesome. We also met a great Austrailian couple at our table who were a joy to share a meal with.
