Glacier Bay, AK - Day 8

Our day in Glacier Bay National Park was our cruise's most exciting and highly anticipated part. If you have had the opportunity to cruise through this national park, you know it is nothing short of amazing. Some fun facts about Glacier Bay are that it is 3.3 million acres with over 1,000 glaciers. Due to its size, only two cruise ships can cruise into the park daily. During our time, we visited seven glaciers by sea.

Glaciers Visited:

  • Reid Glacier

  • Lamplugh Glacier

  • Johns Hopkins Glacier

  • Gilman Glacier

  • Topeka Glacier

  • Marjorie Glacier

  • Grand Pacific Glacier

We entered the park fairly early and wanted food before arriving at our first glacier. So, I set up my GoPro to capture a timelapse, and this is what I caught.

Being able to navigate around icebergs and right up close to each of these huge glaciers was incredible. The water was cloudy and beautiful turquoise because of all the silt suspended in the water that had been coming out in the outwash.
